Background
Life with Paint is Australia's leading group painting experience brand. They needed a Shopify store that matched their premium positioning and included a class booking system.
About Life with Paint
Life with Paint ran weekly paint-and-sip classes and called itself Australia's most popular group painting experience, having by its own count hosted hundreds of classes for thousands of students. It sold to two distinct audiences from one storefront — individuals booking a night out, and brands booking private corporate classes — plus online classes.

The challenge
- Outdated website not reflecting brand premium positioning
- No integrated booking system for painting classes
- Poor conversion rate despite strong brand recognition
- Disconnected ecommerce and events experience
“Exchange Four understood our brand vision immediately. The new store is beautiful and it actually converts visitors into bookings at a rate we've never seen before.”
The approach
- 01Full Shopify store redesign with premium UX
- 02Custom booking system integration for public and private classes
- 03Social proof strategy — leveraged Australia-wide reach on homepage
- 04SEO content strategy: 2,000 words of new content per week
What a store build like this involves
An ecommerce build is judged on one number: the share of visitors who buy. That comes from unglamorous things — how products are grouped, how few steps sit between interest and checkout, how the store behaves on a phone. Design carries the brand; conversion is usually won at checkout and lost to page speed.
Reading the numbers
A 3% conversion rate reads as unremarkable until you place it: Littledata puts the average Shopify store at 1.4%, with anything above roughly 3.2% in the top fifth of stores. Doing that while selling a scheduled, in-person experience rather than a shippable product is harder again, because the buyer has to commit to a date as well as a purchase.
